Fire Prevention Tips

According to a paper in the Fire Safety Journal, it is important to assess fire hazard risks in your home. Some examples might be electrical outlets that spark or a fireplace that has been used without cleaning the chimney for several months. After all, a smoke alarm will alert you to the presence of fire, but it is also important to do everything you can to keep those fires from starting in the first place.

The Fire Safety Journal also recommends having some methods of extinguishing a fire on-hand. These might include an automatic sprinkler system and a home fire extinguisher. Of course, the safety of you and your family comes first, so it is best to evacuate and call the local fire department if you have a major fire.
